I am a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in San Mateo, CA, providing services in both English and Hindi. I have been working with individuals, children, adolescents, couples and families since 2009.
As a therapist, I like to provide nurturing, compassionate and engaging experiences, for my clients. I believe that a therapeutic relationship is just as important as the therapeutic content and process. I believe in providing a space for my clients to feel free to express themselves in a non-judgmental environment. Though topics discussed in therapy can be difficult and challenging, my goal is to provide a space in which more light can be brought to issues and explored further. I believe that therapy is a journey and the role of the therapist is that of a lantern to help illuminate the path chosen by you. Though I practice with a client-centered approach, I prefer to practice under the principal of adopting an approach that would be best beneficial to my clients and their specific situation.
I have a passion for working with life transitions. In life, we are challenged with consistent changes and the anxiety that accompanies these changes. As a therapist, my focus has been to help manage accepting transitions that we experience in life, exploring life stages and the experiences that come with each new stage of life.
Through my years of experience in the field, I have developed a specialization of working with substance abuse and recovery services, gaining a strong clinical background in understanding the contents of addiction and the effect it may have on an individual both physically and emotionally. Although addiction can look different for each person, the difficulties of battling an addiction are the same.
